have we ever stopped to ask? : Behind the rhythm of our lives

A lot of us just go with the flow of our daily routines, gliding through life like it’s no big deal. Mornings hit us with a burst of hope, our tasks roll out in a cool sequence, and life just keeps cruising at a fun pace. But in the middle of all this, we tend to miss the quiet little things that help keep this groove going, and we forget to give ourselves a shoutout for juggling it all.

Our days have always had a certain order to them. Mornings begin, things somehow fall into place, and by the time we step out of the house everything seems ready. As children we rarely questioned how that happened. We simply woke up, got dressed, grabbed our bags and left for school, assuming that this was how mornings naturally worked.

but those mornings were already up and running : have we ever stopped to ask?

But those mornings were already up and running before we even opened our eyes. Our moms and aunts had the kitchen light blazing, breakfast ready, and lunch boxes packed. While we were still dragging ourselves out of bed, they had knocked out half the morning’s to-do list. Uniforms were laid out, hair done, shoelaces tied, and school bags double-checked. We remember the busy rush to get ready but often overlook the effort that went into it beforehand.

That rhythm just went on every single day, no breaks at all. School days, hectic weekdays, exam stress, and weekends that barely felt like weekends to them. There was always something to tackle. Cooking, cleaning, organizing—basically making sure the house was in shape and everyone was good. None of it got a round of applause or a shout-out. It was just the grind that kept the house running, done so often that it eventually faded into the background.

even when we’d go somewhere or crash at relative’s place : Have we ever stopped to ask?

Even when we’d go somewhere or crash at relatives’ places for a bit, their routine never really changed. While we all just kicked back and relaxed, they somehow always found themselves with a new pile of chores. In another house and kitchen, they jumped in to help with whatever needed doing. Their hands never really got a break because they were always on the go, keeping everything running smoothly around them.

It’s pretty clear when they head over to see their parents. Instead of just kicking back like they ought to, it’s like they flip a switch and go right into helper mode. Whipping up some food in the kitchen, cleaning up, making sure their parents don’t have to do a thing. Even when they’re supposed to be relaxing, their chill time gets tossed aside so someone else can enjoy a little more comfort.

Years pass and our lives move forward. We grow up, build our own homes, and our routines begin to look different. Yet when our mothers or aunts come to stay with us for a few days, something very familiar happens again. They wake up early, notice things around the house, and begin doing small tasks almost automatically. Adjusting something in the kitchen, preparing something before anyone else wakes up, making sure the house feels organized.

when you think about it, it is clear : behind the rhythm of our lives

When you think about it, it’s clear that a lot of the rhythm in our lives totally comes from them. The way our mornings vibe, the cozy feels at home, and how our daily routines just click didn’t happen by chance. It’s all thanks to that one person who showed up every day, making sure everything was on point.

We often brush it off as the little things since it all happens at home day in and day out. But if that effort took a break for just one day, you’d totally feel the difference. Meals wouldn’t come when they’re supposed to, routines would get all jumbled, and the laid-back vibe we’re so used to would suddenly feel weird.

for ages, our moms and aunts have been doing all this stuff : have we ever stopped to ask?

For ages, our moms and aunts have been doing all this stuff without wanting any credit. No weekends circled on a calendar, no real breaks from all the chores—just endless days spent making sure everyone else’s life runs smoothly. We might say we’re helping when we pitch in now and then, but for them, it’s just another regular day that’s been going on for years.

And maybe that’s why we rarely pause to give it a high-five! When something’s lurking like a ninja, tying our lives together, we start to believe life is just a smooth ride, like a yacht on a kiddie pool—floating as if a magical fairy is doing all the heavy lifting!
