My Glass Cooktop Transformation : Say Goodbye To Stains

Living abroad presents its own challenges, and one common issue is keeping a spotless glass cooktop. I recently discovered a stubborn stain that frustrated me until I learned a simple trick to restore it.

While this method may be familiar to many living abroad, my experience and the joy of seeing the stain vanish are worth sharing. Here’s a brief guide on how I made my cooktop shine like new.

The Incident That Happened : My Glass Cooktop Transformation

Recently, yesterday being a Wednesday, morning started as usual. I was making tea like I do every morning. Everyday, I used to be careful, but this time, I was busy with other work. While shelving the washed dishes , the boiling tea slipped out of my mind. The moment I saw the tea to spill out of the vessel, I switched off the stove. Alas, the timing was wrong.

As it is an electric cooktop, if you don’t take the vessel off the stove, it continues cooking. The tea spilled onto the hot surface, causing a frustrating stain. My mood instantly soured, and I worried that the stove might be permanently damaged, requiring a costly replacement.

The day felt spoiled and the stress of the stove mishap took my whole day – something everyone living abroad can resonate with. After the cooktop cooled down from cooking lunch, I did try removing the touch stains using the usual cleaner which I use to clean the cooktop.

But to my bad luck, it did not work. In the afternoon, after lunch, I decided to ask for help and searched for Google and to my family who lives in Canada. My husband’s cousin consoled me asking me not to worry as it is very common and it looks like wear and tear. Luckily, when my sister called me just to chat, I told her about the incident. She promised to get back to me with a solution once she got home.

The Magic Trick : Say Goodbye To Stains

That evening, she shared a magical remedy that not only restored my cooktop but also saved us from a costly replacement. The magic solution was a simple mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Here’s what I did today after completing all chores for the day :

First I made a paste of baking soda and vinegar in equal proportions. Next, I waited for the bubbles to subside. After waiting for a few seconds, I applied the paste to the burn – stain areas. Next, I waited for the mixture paste to work. Lastly, I took a wet paper towel and scrubbed the burn stained area and the whole stove. I cleaned the stove using a clean wet microfiber cloth.

Little did i know that this simple magic paste would work wonders. Even my sister said, sometimes the stain will not go off in first attempt, but to our surprise, it all went off in the first time itself and I did not apply much pressure while wiping off with wet paper towel. I didn’t expect much, but to our surprise, it looked like it never happened. Lesson learned : never become busy while cooking in a electric cooktop.
