My Favorite Childhood Books and Reading Habits: Ink-Strained Memories
Today, readers can explore countless literary genres and recommendations in libraries, on Kindle, and online. Developing a reading habit is essential, as books provide company when nothing else inspires. There’s something magical about curling up with a good book while it rains outside, enjoying a snack. Books teach us to appreciate solitude, nurture our imagination, and offer a private world to enjoy.

As a kid, I was bursting with passions, completely drawn to imaginative stories and adventures beyond my school books. Among my favorite childhood books, Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie held a special place in my heart. Peter Pan—a brave, playful boy who can fly—soars through adventures on a magical island, showing me how books can whisk you away to fantastical worlds.
Another series that truly captured my imagination was Nancy Drew. She is a captivating fictional character who appears in a long-running mystery book series, as well as movies, video games, and a TV show, always portrayed as a clever teenage amateur detective. The books were written by various authors under the shared pseudonym Carolyn Keene.

Nancy made her debut in 1930 in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series, which continued until 2003 and included 175 novels. These mystery-filled chapter books became some of my favorite reads, strengthening my love for detective fiction and page-turning book recommendations.
Secret Seven. I was utterly captivated by this series! The Secret Seven, or Secret Seven Society, is a thrilling group of child detectives created by the brilliant Enid Blyton, inspired by the publisher’s own children. In this gripping series for young readers, the members—Peter, Janet, Pam, Barbara, Jack, Colin, and George—embark on one suspenseful adventure after another.
These delightful stories, filled with mystery, friendship, and the joy of problem-solving, are just what children need as they embark on their reading journeys. They offer a wonderful way to foster strong reading habits while providing fun and engaging book recommendations that will surely keep young readers eagerly turning the pages.
