Jet Set To Canada : Part 2 : Toronto Bound
The Last Day on Indian Soil: Toronto Bound : Friday was our last full day in India, and I felt a quiet heaviness beneath every happy moment. We enjoyed a comforting complimentary breakfast while laughing and playing with my niece. A soothing head massage helped me relax, but I knew that packing our bags also meant packing away time with loved ones.
Over a sumptuous lunch brimming with flavors, we sealed our return tickets to Toronto, each click resonating like a bittersweet note, signaling the end of an unforgettable chapter in India. With hearts bursting with a whirlwind of emotions, we made our way to the lounge, gathered our cherished luggage, and booked an Uber to KempeGowda International Airport, Bengaluru, knowing this journey would forever echo in our souls.
Despite our efforts to stay busy and enjoy every last moment, the reality of leaving truly hit us when we arrived at the airport. Airports always carry a strange energy for me—a mix of beginnings and endings—and this time was no different. While waiting in the check-in line, we hugged, talked, and clung to those final minutes together over hot beverages.

At the same time, we were mentally bracing ourselves for the long journey back to Toronto: three different aircraft, two stopovers, nearly 26 hours door-to-door, and about 19 hours actually in the air. It felt overwhelming, but there was also comfort in knowing we were heading back to the life we had slowly built in Canada.

The Second Leg: Toronto Bound : As we checked in https://www.emirates.com/in/english/ for our Emirates flight, goodbyes to family stirred mixed emotions of sadness and excitement about returning to Toronto. The airport’s elegant decor offered calm, and the quick check-in and smooth immigration relieved my chaotic thoughts as we prepared for the journey ahead.
Our journey from Bangalore to Dubai on an Emirates Boeing 777-300 marked the start of our return to Canada. After the formalities, we admired the impressive airport architecture before boarding. As we settled into our seats and ascended above 30,000 feet, I watched the city lights fade, feeling a lump in my throat.
The in-flight entertainment distracted us from the mix of emotions—sadness of leaving, excitement of returning home, and curiosity about Toronto. Before long, we were descending into Dubai, and around 11 pm local time, our Boeing 777-300 landed at Dubai International Airport, marking the first part of our journey back to Canada.

The Long Haul Leg: Toronto Bound : Arriving at Dubai airport, we were surrounded by the bustling energy of a major hub. After going through security checks, we reminded ourselves that each queue brought us closer to home in Canada. Our departure gate was at the far end of the airport, making the long walk across terminals consume much of our transit time.
Yet, that walk turned into a quiet time for reflection as we processed our emotions and the journey so far. After finding a place to sit, we gathered our strength for the longest segment of the trip: our 14-hour flight from Dubai International Airport to Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, with about 13 hours and 30 minutes in the air.
Once we boarded, my tired body and restless mind faced the reality of a long-haul flight. Inside the Emirates Boeing 777-200, we found our seats and hoped for a smooth journey. The aircraft lifted gracefully to 36,000 feet, leaving Dubai’s lights behind. Although older, the inflight entertainment distracted us from the flight’s sheer length.
We drifted in and out of sleep, waking for mid-flight snacks and stretching in the aisles. As the hours crawled by, impatience and exhaustion crept in. Time felt elastic—racing and dragging—as we awaited the announcement that we were finally approaching Montreal, and our home in Toronto.

Time at Montreal Airport: Toronto Bound : As the sun rose and our aircraft cruised over Canadian airspace, something shifted inside me. The soft morning light poured through the windows, and soon the comforting aroma of breakfast began to drift through the cabin. In that moment, it truly sank in—we were back in Canada.
As we approached Montreal, the landscape emerged beneath the clouds, bringing a wave of relief and quiet joy. The descent symbolized our return to Canadian life after an emotional whirlwind. When the plane finally touched down after nearly 14 hours of travel, a collective sigh of relief echoed through the cabin.
Stepping off the aircraft in Montreal, we felt a mix of exhaustion and renewed energy. This was the penultimate step before reaching Toronto, and that thought kept us going. We followed the signs, completed immigration and customs, and reclaimed our luggage—one more checkpoint crossed on this long journey from India to Canada.
Once everything was cleared, we eagerly checked in for our onward domestic flight. With all formalities behind us, we finally settled at the gate, our hearts racing as we basked in the thrilling reality that we were on the brink of the final leg of this unforgettable travel adventure back to Toronto.

Despite being a short domestic hop on an Air Canada Airbus 220-300, it felt significant. The smaller aircraft was modern and clean, offering a cozy space for the last hour and a half of our long travel day.
When we heard our boarding announcement, excitement rushed through us—we were almost home. We quickly boarded the plane and found seats together, comforting after a fragmented journey. The takeoff was smooth, and soon we were offered drinks and snacks, a welcome gesture after hours in transit.
As we cruised the 661 miles from Montreal to Toronto, time seemed to pass quickly. Soon, we began our descent, and I stared out the window for familiar landmarks. The landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport was smooth, bringing a sense of relief and gratitude. After a series of back-to-back flights, we had made it back to Toronto.
