Between Good Intentions & Gym Shoes : Me One More Start & Tomorrow

Calendars exude optimism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gym . Each sunrise presents a fresh square as if yesterday didn’t exist. Missed plans linger behind while the new date arrives without questions. Mornings feel generous, offering blank spaces long after we cease deserving them. So, welcome to “Between Good Intentions & Gym Shoes : Me One More Start & Tomorrow”.

Beginnings receive too much attention, decorated with excitement and fresh plans. Returning, however, arrives quietly, unnoticed and uncelebrated. It simply appears one ordinary day, as if nothing was interrupted at all.

me one more start & tomorrow : Between good intentions & Gym shoes

Returning to India brought a different kind of routine. Every day slowly found its place again, but settling down never happened as a single event. It arrived in pieces. One day it was arranging the house. Another day it was getting familiar with neighbourhood stores. Somewhere in between, the gym quietly waited for its turn.

Reaching the gym is now easy as it’s in my apartment complex. Just a short walk and a flight of stairs, and I’m there. It’s not a big fitness centre with lots of machines; a few are functional, while some are broken. It has enough for anyone who just wants to exercise. Looking at it, there’s nothing stopping me from working out.

Yet every evening, I realize that my real workout begins before I even arrive at the gym. My body reminds me that going to the gym is essential for my well-being. I may not see myself as a fitness enthusiast, but I recognize that working out and burning calories gives me balance and peace that I truly value.

the conversation starts long before my shoes are on : Me one more start & tomorrow

The conversation starts long before my shoes are on. I know I should go. I know I will feel better afterwards. I know forty-five minutes is hardly a big investment in an entire day. Still, another part of me quietly begins extending tomorrow an invitation that belongs to today. The discussion lasts only a few minutes, but it decides everything that follows.

Access to something makes it easier to delay action. Since the gym is downstairs, I think I can go later. Later turns into after dinner, which then becomes tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning often turns into yet another tomorrow. Easy access feels like endless options, which can trick us into thinking there’s no rush at all.

Missing one workout changes very little. Missing several begins changing the rhythm. Returning after a gap always feels harder than the last session itself. Muscles remember movement better than they remember interruptions, but the mind remembers interruptions remarkably well. It begins treating every comeback as though it were another beginning.

that is likely why consistency has never seemed like : between good intentions & gym shoes

That is likely why consistency has never seemed like a physical struggle for me. It always feels more like a promise I’ve made to myself. Each workout I complete is a testament to honoring that commitment for another day, while each missed session reminds me that the conversation about my goals will continue tomorrow.

Oddly enough, blogging has taught me the very same lesson. No one writes hundreds of posts because inspiration arrives every morning. No one exercises consistently because enthusiasm appears on schedule. Both survive because of repeated returns. One blank page follows another. One workout follows another. Neither asks me to be extraordinary. Both simply wait for me to show up again.

Perhaps that is why I have stopped expecting perfect streaks. Life will continue unfolding alongside every plan I make. There will always be days that move differently from the ones I imagined. Instead of chasing uninterrupted consistency, I have started valuing uninterrupted returns. As long as I keep finding my way back, tomorrow never becomes the place where every intention quietly goes to rest.
