Every plane ticket I buy carries the weight https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urge of hopes I’ve already outgrown. No matter the passport stamp, the same questions follow me off the runway: Who I am When No One Wants My Story?. So, welcome to “Urge To Get Back : Caught In Two Worlds”.
I’ve embraced every hug and chuckled at each familiar joke, yet a restless voice softly murmurs “It’s time to get back”. **N**o matter how inviting the welcome or how cozy the pillow, the moments seem to stretch, caught between the warmth of this place and the undeniable tug of my life calling me from afar.

Caught In Two Worlds : Urge To Get Back
Heart Vs Mind: An Ongoing Tug-of-War. This struggle hits home for us expats. Living abroad is a mixed bag, isn’t it? After I went back to India for a break, I found myself seriously missing my life abroad. It’s like I’m stuck—pulled in two different directions, wanting to chill here while also longing for life over there. It’s that familiar ache, a little voice from the heart, reminding me that I belong to two different worlds.
The togetherness we shared as a family on that morning of our arrival, despite being jetlagged and sleep deprived, was an indescribable joy—the very feeling I had longed for. Those days in my hometown, though just a week and a half, felt like a beautiful dream. I found myself wishing it could last forever. Yet, every smile reminded us of our impending departure. It’s a bittersweet sensation that clings to the heart, one that can never truly be escaped.
Heart whispers: “Stay here. Savor the warmth of their adoration!” Meanwhile, the Mind urges: “Yet, return to my cherished routines, my sacred rules.” It’s a perpetual battle, and the bittersweet farewells are invariably present. Vacations are enchanting precisely because they come to a close. I firmly embrace the idea of immersing myself in the present and living life to its fullest, defying any constraints of someone else’s playbook.

Togetherness, Always Important : Caught In Two Worlds
Togetherness is what we long for, fostering a sense of belonging that nourishes our souls. Yet I respect everyone’s daily commitments—the meetings, deadlines, and routines that shape our lives. These obligations can feel like invisible threads, pulling us in different directions. Their silences remind us of the gaps in our shared laughter, serving as gentle reminders that my departure is inevitable.
It is crucial to acknowledge that honoring my own path is as important as celebrating our moments together, for each step reflects the journey we share. We all matter in each other’s story, and true care means knowing when to support and uplift, and when to step away for personal growth. In this dance of connection and independence, we find the balance that enriches our lives and those we cherish.
Our presence holds immense significance, regardless of the time we have. Whether the schedule is brief or extended, those who journey from afar for a vacation have a fleeting window. It’s essential to embrace and celebrate the moments with these visitors while they’re with us, rather than longing for their company in their absence. That desire to connect is wholly natural. Thus, the pressing question remains: “Which world craves my presence most in this very moment?”
