The Great Detox : Blogging Blunders And Redemption
For a longer time, I had this nagging feeling to get rid of certain blogs. But at that time, out of curiosity and impulsiveness—and being fairly new to the blogging world—I found myself publishing blogs daily. I naively believed that my readers would eagerly await my posts every day.
To my dismay, I fervently realized that wasn’t the case. The daily posts, my heartfelt creations, weren’t garnering the engagement I hoped for, and I found myself engulfed in frustration, questioning why people couldn’t spare just a few moments to immerse themselves in my words when they effortlessly devoted hours to scrolling through social media.

Even though daily blogging has really fired me up and kept me motivated, the lackluster engagement made me take a step back and rethink my game plan. I figured out that ditching those underwhelming posts was a must, but I definitely wasn’t ready for the emotional rollercoaster that came with that decision.
The Herculean Task : The Great Detox
My first hurdle was realizing just how many of my posts were actually tied together. I had all these internal links pointing to the blogs I was planning to toss out. Plus, my site was cluttered with random plugins I’d picked up over the years. “Ditching plugins? No biggie,” I thought. But fixing those broken internal links? Totally a different ball game.
I began the monumental task of checking over 300+ blogs, one by one. This involved organizing the posts into categories—thankfully, an easier task—and meticulously going through each post in every category. I jotted down notes in a notebook, identifying which posts had broken links and needed updating. Finding suitable replacement links was no small feat, but I persevered, marking each blog as “done” once I had finished and saved the updates. Boosting the CSS in Jetpack was part of this process, ensuring the site remained visually appealing.
you don’t realize how much clutter you’ve accumulated : blogging blunders and redemption
“You don’t realize how much clutter you’ve accumulated until you start cleaning up,” I often reminded myself. The act of differentiating and categorizing the blog posts was a painstaking but necessary step in achieving a clean, streamlined blog. One of the tools that proved invaluable in this process was the Broken Link Checker plugin. Connecting my site to this plugin allowed me to easily identify and fix broken links, saving me a considerable amount of time and effort.
Even though I ran into some bumps along the way, seeing my post directory all clean and tidy made it totally worth it. The mess was finally under control, and I came out of this digital detox not just feeling good, but also with some pretty cool insights about curating content and keeping a blog in shape.
Through this journey, I discovered the importance of quality over quantity and how a well-maintained blog can foster greater engagement. I hope my story encourages fellow bloggers to embrace the process of digital housekeeping and navigate their own blogging blunders with confidence and determination.
