Symphony Of Nature & Heritage : Mangroves & Mysticism
Our journey began in the afternoon of May 2019, as we left Chennai, eager for new experiences. The four to five-hour drive to Chidambaram, with our breaks, was a mix of excitement and calm. The route through Puducherry added charm, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination.
By evening, we reached Chidambaram and checked into the hotel, a booking made in Chennai. Our family visited the famous Thillai Nataraja Temple, known for its bejeweled image of Lord Nataraja, a figure of Lord Shiva, adorned in gems. The atmosphere and intricate carvings filled us with awe. After the visit, we returned to the hotel, concluding the day with a hearty dinner.

The next day, after breakfast, we checked out and headed to Pichavaram Mangrove Forest, one of India’s largest at around 1,100 hectares. This labyrinth features green canopies and tranquil waters. While my husband and his family enjoyed a thrilling boat ride, I stayed back to soak in nature’s soothing sounds.

After visiting Pichavaram Mangrove forest, we headed to Puducherry and stayed at Ocean Spray Resort for a night. The resort by serene waters offered a blend of luxury and tranquility, with the sea breeze and sound of waves providing a calming backdrop to unwind and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

The next morning, refreshed, we returned to Chennai with a treasure trove of memories. This journey was about the connections and joy that defined our time together. Each experience, from Chidambaram to Pichavaram and the retreat at Ocean Spray, left us with a lasting sense of wonder.
