After waking up, I ease into the day with my morning chores and prepare coffee for my husband and tea for myself. I often reflect on how my morning routine has evolved between my life in India and my life in Canada. In India, my mornings began with waking up, doing regular chores, and carefully creating rangoli or Kolam at the entrance to invite positive energy and blessings into our home. Then came the familiar sounds of newspapers and milk being delivered.

After a refreshing shower, I prepared a comforting breakfast—usually idlis or dosas with chutneys or sambar, sometimes with fresh fruits. We lit a lamp in front of the deity, praying for our family’s well-being. These mindful rituals and a hearty breakfast made me feel centered, peaceful, and ready for the day.
