College life is a dream for many of us. In this blog, I’m sharing my College Chronicles and educational journey, with a focus on college life, undergraduate studies, postgraduate studies, and student experiences in India. Welcome to “College Chronicles : My Educational Odyssey“.
College life is a unique time in a student’s journey. I earned my Master’s Degree in Computer Applications in 2008 in India after graduating from Bharathi Vidya Bhavan Matriculation Higher Secondary School in 2002. I’m grateful to my teachers and especially my parents for their support.

My Undergraduate College Life in India: College Chronicles

I completed my undergraduate studies at Srimati Indira Gandhi College in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, part of Bharathidasan University. Established in 1984 by K. Santhanam, it is one of the early women’s colleges in the state, known for its academics and safe campus. Mahatma Gandhi visited in 1934, and to honor this, the college has a “Gandhi Tree,” a peepal tree with plaques about his visit, linking the campus to India’s freedom movement.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at Srimati Indira Gandhi College from 2002 to 2005, enjoying hostel life and spending time with friends in college activities. Founded in 1984 by K. Santhanam, the college started with two courses and ten teachers, becoming one of the first women’s colleges in the state. Named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, her statue on campus inspires students, especially young women, about leadership and education.
My Postgraduate Journey: College Chronicles and Student Life

I pursued my postgraduate degree at Vellalar College for Women https://www.vcw.ac.in/, located in my hometown of Erode, Tamil Nadu, India. Vellalar College for Women is a well-known general degree college for women situated in Thindal, Erode, and was established in 1970. Affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, it offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, commerce, and science. Conveniently located just behind my former school, this college made daily commuting easy for me as a day scholar. The institution is formally recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which adds to its credibility and appeal for students seeking quality higher education for women in India.
I completed my postgraduate studies (Master’s Degree in Computer Applications) from 2005 to 2008 at Vellalar College for Women in my hometown. Those three years were filled with fun, friendship, and deep learning. As a day scholar, I felt completely at home on campus since I already knew the area so well. The college received its first NAAC accreditation in 2002, reflecting its commitment to academic quality, student support, and a positive learning environment. My postgraduate student life there was a great balance of rigorous coursework, supportive teachers, and memorable time spent with friends.
Chronicles of My Colleges: The Best of College Life and Student Experiences
The most valuable part of my college life—both during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies—was learning from exceptional teachers and having access to good facilities and supportive environments. These experiences made my student life in India truly unforgettable. Studying under the Bharathidasan University syllabus at the undergraduate level was challenging and academically rigorous, which helped build a strong foundation in computer science. My postgraduate syllabus, affiliated with Bharathiar University, was more flexible and enjoyable, allowing me to explore advanced topics and practical applications in computer science and technology. I also had the chance to participate in various competitions, cultural programs, and inter-collegiate events, proudly representing my colleges. The well-equipped computer labs offered everything I needed to complete projects, practice coding, and grow my technical skills. Overall, both colleges played a huge role in shaping my academic success and confidence as a student.
Conclusion: College Life, Higher Education, and Future Journeys
A good education—whether in school, college, or postgraduate studies—is key to a successful life. I appreciate my parents and teachers for their support during my education in India. As I look forward to experiences in Canada, I take those memories and lessons with me. Let’s seek schools that offer great education and a fulfilling student life, so we can gain knowledge and character. Here’s to lifelong learning, happy living, and a bright future, no matter where we study.
