Day 2 With Maa Brahmacharini : Awakening The Spirit

Maa Brahmacharini is worshipped on the second day of Navaratri. Her name signifies “one who practices penance” and represents an unmarried form of Goddess Parvati.

Initially, after Sati’s self-immolation, she was reborn as Parvati, the daughter of King Himavat and Queen Menavati. Consequently, Maa Brahmacharini embarked on a severe penance to win Lord Shiva’s heart. Despite the hardships, her devotion and determination never wandered.

Maa Brahmacharini is depicted holding a mala in her right hand and a water pot (kamandalu) in her left hand. This form symbolizes calmness, penance, and devotion.

Worshipping Maa Brahmacharini is believed to bestow peace, virtue, and prosperity upon devotees, inspiring them to remain devoted and steadfast in their life’s journey.
