The Day We Travel: Jet Set to India : The day of our journey arrived, feeling like a milestone in our life abroad. With hearts full of anticipation and a hint of nervous energy, we began with a refreshing shower and quiet prayers for a safe journey. As we entered the waiting taxi, suitcases ready and passports in hand, emotion washed over us. After months of video calls, we were just one flight away from our family in India.

We reached Toronto Pearson International Airport ahead of schedule, eager to savor this long-awaited trip. The familiar hum of the airport—the rolling suitcases, boarding calls, and chatter in different languages—wrapped around us warmly. A mix of anxiety and excitement coursed through us as we checked in, cleared security, and found our gate. Each step—dropping off our bags, scanning our boarding passes, waiting—brought us closer to home and the people we had missed for 15 months.

Dubai in an A380-800: Jet Set to India : Choosing Emirates Airlines for our journey to India was one of our best travel decisions. Once we boarded the A380-800 Airbus for our nearly 12-hour flight from Toronto to Dubai, the spacious cabin and calm atmosphere eased our anxiety. Despite a brief delay, the crew’s reassuring smiles made us feel truly cared for, not just as passengers, but as people eager to get home.

Once we reached cruising altitude, something beautiful happened on board. The cabin crew took the time to connect with passengers, especially families traveling with children. There were shared laughs, photos being taken, and little moments of human connection that made the long-haul flight feel a bit more like a shared journey than just a means of getting from point A to point B.

The thoughtfully served meals, warm beverages, and a wide selection of inflight entertainment kept us comfortable and distracted from the hours passing by. As the first light of morning gently touched the clouds outside our window, we finished our breakfast and prepared to land at Dubai International Airport—one big step closer to India, and to the people who were waiting with so much love.

The second leg of our trip—from Dubai to Bangalore on the Boeing 777—carried a different kind of energy: a mix of restless excitement, impatience, and deep emotion. By this point, we were physically tired but emotionally charged. Every announcement from the captain, every update from the crew, made our hearts race just a little faster. It was only a three-hour flight, but it felt much longer because our minds were already in India, picturing the faces of our loved ones and the first hugs we would soon share.

When we finally touched down at Bengaluru Kempe Gowda International Airport, it felt surreal. The excitement in the air was almost tangible. We moved quickly through immigration, our hearts pounding with every step. Waiting for our luggage felt like an eternity; each bag that passed on the carousel built our impatience and hope.

As we walked out of the airport doors and saw our family waiting for us with open arms, time seemed to pause. It was pure, overwhelming bliss—a reunion we had pictured in our minds so many times during those 15 months apart.

From the airport, we headed straight to our hotel with our family, where the evening unfolded slowly and beautifully. Over a comforting, homely meal shared with our dear relatives, stories poured out, jokes were cracked, and the room filled with that familiar warmth we had missed so much.

The tiredness from the long trip and the jet lag hit us hard, but it was all cozy being back where we felt at home. With our hearts full of love, thanks, and relief, we finally crashed, already dreaming about the awesome days to come—the temple visits, the home-cooked meals, the late-night talks, and all those simple, unforgettable moments of just being together again.
